WE’RE PUTTING THE “ALL” IN BASEBALL & SOFTBALL

Some of the Dodgers Training Academy’s Community Initiatives

1:1 AND SMALL GROUP

It’s about access

The Dodgers firmly believe that our communities should be places where everyone can thrive. They have organized their business around this principle, making several social justice, educational, and healthcare commitments across Los Angeles County that use baseball to improve lives. With Dodgers Training Academy, we are redoubling our commitment to supporting our young athletes. We will invest in our communities through facilities, programming, and mentors – providing improved access and opportunities for recreational players, Little Leaguers, and select team players, regardless of socioeconomic background. Together, we will tap into the transformative power of sport to educate, empower, and elevate.

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

Player Development Training

With help from the Dodgers Foundation, our Player Development Trainings provide kids in the Dodgers Dreamteam program (formerly Dodgers RBI) with inclusive baseball and softball skills development. These events are designed to help each participant thrive by allowing them to learn more about diamond sports and from professionally trained coaches in an environment focused on enhancing their self-confidence, education, and leadership skills.

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

Dreamteam Coaches Training

These training sessions are an opportunity for the Dreamteam program’s dedicated volunteer coaches to learn more than skills and techniques from our professionally trained instructors but also understand how to create an environment built around social and emotional learning opportunities. Clinics include philosophies and techniques on skill development drills, practice planning structures, and positive teaching methods. The curriculum helps coaches to better engage with their players of all skill levels while giving them the tools and confidence to run efficient and effective practices, allowing for better engagement, a positive environment, and robust player-coach relationships.

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

Dedicated Facility Time

We know that not everyone can afford private lessons or team fees, but firmly believe that shouldn’t exclude them from the opportunity to pursue their dream of playing baseball and softball and enjoying all the benefits that team sports have to offer. So we set aside dedicated time when our facilities are open and our instructors are available, for free, to those with a demonstrated financial need. We also pledge to work toward helping solve the access problem of getting athletes without transportation to and from our facilities.

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

Camps & Clinics

In conjunction with the Dodgers Foundation, we will make spots in many of our camps and clinics available to those who cannot afford them at full cost. This is not just a charitable commitment but an investment in justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion that will benefit all of the participants in these programs.
